At Boo Cottage Botanicals, we believe skincare should care for more than just skin.
From the ingredients we choose to the packaging we send out, we’re always asking how we can tread a little more lightly and make more thoughtful choices.
We know no business is perfect, and sustainability is always evolving, but we care deeply about continually improving the way we work.
Because thoughtful skincare should care for the wider world too.
Ingredients with intention
We choose ingredients carefully — considering not only how they support skin, but also their quality, sourcing and environmental impact.
Where climate and quality allow, we prioritise British-grown and locally sourced ingredients and are continually increasing the number of UK-grown botanicals within our collections.
The majority of our ingredients are used in their raw or minimally refined form, allowing them to retain as much of their natural goodness as possible.
Where functional ingredients are required — such as preservatives or emulsifiers — we only choose options approved by COSMOS or EcoCert, meaning they are naturally derived and aligned with high environmental standards.
We also research every ingredient carefully to ensure it meets both our skincare and sustainability values.
Packaging, thoughtfully considered
Reducing unnecessary waste matters to us.
We choose glass, aluminium tins and recycled card as the foundation of much of our packaging because they can be reused, recycled or repurposed long after the product inside has been enjoyed.
Many of our products are available as refill options to help reduce waste, and local customers can take part in our packaging return scheme for glass bottles and jars.
When your order arrives, you’ll find it carefully packed using recycled cardboard boxes, shredded paper, compostable starch packing peanuts and paper tape.
We avoid unnecessary plastic wherever possible.
Small batch, less waste
Making in micro-batches isn’t only about quality — it also helps us reduce unnecessary waste.
By creating skincare in smaller quantities, we can make more thoughtfully, avoid overproduction and ensure products remain as fresh as possible.
We’d rather make less — more carefully.
Renewable energy
The electricity that powers our workshop comes from 100% renewable sources, including wind, water and solar energy.
It’s one small part of a much bigger picture, but one that feels important to us.
