Why are our conditioner bars out of stock?
We understand that many of our customers have been wondering why most of our conditioner bars are currently unavailable. We want to address this issue and provide you with an update on what's been happening behind the scenes.
Supply issues and the need for reformulation
Unfortunately, we have been facing supply issues with one of the key conditioning ingredients used in our conditioner bars. This unexpected challenge has forced us to reformulate all four varieties of our conditioner bars.
At Boo Cottage Botanicals, we believe in using natural and sustainable ingredients whenever possible. We love utilising the power of nature to create products that are good for both you and the environment. That's why we use a huge amount of ingredients that grow on trees, can be pressed from seeds, or distilled from plants. These ingredients provide numerous benefits for your hair and skin.
Why do we need to look elsewhere for some ingredients?
However, when it comes to creating more technical products like shampoo bars or conditioner bars, we sometimes need to look beyond what nature provides. One specific ingredient we rely on is a 'conditioning' ingredient. This ingredient works by being positively charged, counteracting our negatively charged hair shaft. The result is soft, shiny, and tangle-free hair.
Unfortunately, this particular conditioning ingredient is not readily available by pressing a seed, but from a specific combination of naturally derived ingredients. While we strive to be as self-sufficient as possible, some ingredients require specialised knowledge and equipment to create. Cosmetic ingredient manufacturers have the expertise and resources to produce these ingredients on a larger scale.
What are the challenges we face?
However, relying on cosmetic ingredient manufacturers does come with its challenges. We are at their mercy when it comes to the availability and production of this specific ingredient. If they decide to change the formulation or, worse, stop producing it entirely, we are left with limited options. In the UK, any cosmetic product placed on the market must be first assessed by a Cosmetic Chemist. Making even the smallest change means a product must be reassessed for safety.
What steps do we take to ensure quality?
Despite these challenges, we are committed to providing you with the best products possible. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality ingredients. We also stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry, constantly exploring new alternatives and solutions. Our goal is to create products that not only meet your expectations but also align with our values of sustainability and natural goodness.
We have therefore been looking for an alternative conditioning ingredient without compromising our ethical and environmental principles and to make sure the performance of our finished bars are up to our high standards.
What about shampoo bars?
Additionally, this conditioning ingredient is used in our shampoo bars, to help leave your hair feeling soft and shiny. Because of this, we have also had to reformulate our four shampoo bars. However, we are pleased to inform you that the new versions of our shampoo bars are already in the hands of our cosmetic chemist.
